The American Conservatives has been publishing articles and podcasts discussing topics related to rape, sexual assault, domestic violence, and sexual misconduct since 2011.
The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) has also been an advocate for women’s health and reproductive rights.
The podcast, Rape: A Podcast About Sexual Assault, discusses the prevalence of sexual assault and the role of the medical profession in addressing it.
The podcast also features a new segment, “The Rape of the Heart.”
In this segment, host Rachel Shafner discusses the case of 17-year-old Sydney Clements.
She says that she was sexually assaulted in her home by a man she met online.
Clements was able to identify the attacker through social media and report the crime to authorities.
She is currently on a hunger strike to protest the lack of justice for Clements, who is in the process of being institutionalized.
Consequently, the US House of Representatives passed a resolution in September that calls for mandatory training for medical professionals on sexual assault.
It also urges the Department of Justice to create a national strategy to address sexual violence.
